In the heart of the Old Port, the project for the new headquarters of the Faculty of Engineering reuses the spaces of an ancient cereal Silos.
preliminary project, project financing - 2003/2006
The Hennebique grain silo is an imposing urban object 350 meters long and located close to, on the west side, of the maritime station.
It was built at the end of the nineteenth century in order to contain and sort the loads of grain coming from the sea; the structure stopped working in the 1970s and has since been abandoned. The project, in addition to opening up to the city the urban dimension of the large monolith, plans to create a varied system of courtyards and arcades to bring light into the immense body of the building, completely covered with a new glass skin.
