Gianandrea Barreca joins the Technical-Scientific Committee for Contemporary Art and Architecture of Mibac
The appointment on December 21st 2018 by the Minister for Cultural Heritage Alberto Bonisoli. “I believe I can also contribute to the defense of contemporary architecture as an opportunity for social and economic relaunching for Italy”, says Barreca.
The committee is composed by architect Francesca Canfora, also nominated by the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities Alberto Bonisoli, and Prof. Claudio Varagnoli, appointed by the National University Council. The Technical-Scientific Committee for Contemporary Art and Architecture is part of the seven technical-scientific committees established in 2014 as central consultative bodies of Mibac.
Gianandrea Barreca comments on the appointment: “In the next few years our country will have to face a significant rethinking of its territorial infrastructures and, as regards the city, a deep and widespread activity of urban regeneration. The role of a ministerial commission is to monitor, address and suggestion. There are many things to do, the challenges that await us involve taking on a new culture of the use of common space and the acquisition of new intervention techniques. I thank Minister Bonisoli for this involvement, I believe I can also contribute to the defense of contemporary architecture as an opportunity for social and economic recovery for Italy.”
